Ted D. Billbe

Since opening his family law practice in 1997 Ted and his staff have handled over 1,000 family law cases involving almost every aspect of family law. After completing his undergraduate business education, Ted worked for 10 years in corporate financial and accounting positions before embarking on his legal career. Upon graduating cum laude from the University of San Diego Law School in 1989 Ted was admitted to practice law in the state of California. He joined a prestigious San Diego law firm and was trained in complex business litigation. Returning to his native Seattle in 1993, Ted joined Perkins Coie, another top law firm, where his financial background and commercial litigation experience made him an invaluable member of the team working on a very complex and protracted family law case for a noted high asset individual. Ted had the opportunity to work with–and against–some of the top divorce attorneys in Seattle.

Ted represents clients exclusively in family law matters. His business and financial background combined with his large law firm training and his substantial family law experience make him particularly well qualified to represent divorce clients in complex cases with financial, business, valuation and tracing issues. Ted is experienced at both negotiating settlements and advocating in court. Ted notes “I found that my personality and financial and legal background were a good fit for family law cases.” Ted added, “I enjoy the challenge that every case presents and I appreciate the opportunity to help my clients navigate the divorce process to achieve the best possible outcome so they can transition through their legal case and move ahead with their life.”

Ted’s law practice is driven as much by his compassion for his clients as by his rigorous technical understanding of the law. Every family matter involves a range of high stakes — personal safety, emotional as well as financial security and critical provisions for children. Ted notes “I appreciate the personal connection I make with each of my clients and the opportunity to positively impact their lives.”

Ted continues to share his unique perspective and experience with his professional community by serving on policy committees for the Washington State Bar Association and presenting at legal education seminars.
